On Wednesday, Ilya Kovalchuk met with team officials and general manager Don Waddell to discuss his contract situation. Two weeks ago, the Thrashers offered Kovalchuk an eight year deal for $80 million dollars, or ten million a season. Since Waddell hasn’t heard anything on the latest offer the Atlanta Thrashers offered Kovalchuk, Waddell most likely told Kovalchuk that he will be traded in the near future. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4884245 7
