Posted by Unknown | Tuesday, September 01, 2009 | , , | 0 comments »

Biggest event: Germany invades Poland.

For More...

Here is Today in History for January 2, 2009.

Here it is in 100 seconds.

Here are the top social questions, one of them is related to the great YellowStone Supervolcano, I found lots of videos about this and posted them here, one that I posted was a two hour long docu-drama from the BBC that just made my morning. But here is a shorter clip from something else.

Other historical videos for this day include footage from Sid Vicious arrest/trial/death - today in history was the beginning of his trial.

Also archived the Ibrox stadium collapse that killed 65 people in Glasgow on this day in 1971. I found this tribute video for the archive

December 30 as reported on Mahalo, I shaving this one in close to midnight. Tomorrows will be up much earlier as I am planning to get shit faced.

Here is the AP Today in History Video

Here is the TPM Day in 100 Seconds

Here are the top Social Stories

The one video I found related to a historical event was from last years Election in Kenya. Which were held on this day, it was the rioting that ensued that made for good video...oh rioting.. how you always provide good video.

Today in History for December 29, as seen on Mahalo

I've always used the AP video above, but maybe I should start using these TPM Media ones too.

Here are the Top Social Stories of the day, just as I was contemplating yesterday what do about Answers (archive by views or by answers) this guy's question must have got hit somewhere on the web because a vary rare 7332 hits, for the question below.

Some of the videos I've archived related to today include this firebombing of London footage from WWII

And I found this documentary snippet about the Wounded Knee Massacre..

So Check out Today in History for Today and if there are any events missing submit a link to the page and I'll see it.

Today in History for December 28.

The Top Social Stories and the Mahalo Answers question that got the most views... I noticed the most popular isn't necessarily the one that has the most responses, I am starting to wonder if I should archive the other way around, but there are no filtering options for most responses, so for now I'll stick with whatever is at the top of the Most Popular tab.

The Archived video that I found for today was an interesting one, in 1895 on this day, was when the first commercial movie was screened for an audience, in Paris, of course, the movie was nothing special, just Frenchmen, being frenchmen...here it is for your entertain..ment?

Please check it out and submit links at the bottom for anything that i've missed.

Just completed Today in History for December 27. Here are the top Social Stories from various networks...

Some videos that I was able to dig up from Historical events include last years Assassination of Benazir Bhutto.

One great find was the entire Charles Darwin Voyage BBC Series Documentary. Darwin started his voyage on this day in 1831.

I've really been slaggin on the blogging the last couple weeks, things have been pretty busy with the who Mahalo Answers launch, and the holidays. But I have gotten back into the Today in History groove and will be adding the most popular Question to the "Top Social Stories" section on the TiH pages. Here is December 26.

Today's most popular question is a 5$, this fella wants to know how he can get his mitts on some schwag from bankrupt companies, if you can help, by all means answer, you might get 5$ for your trouble.

Here are Todays Top Social Stories...

The other videos I found for Historical events from this day, were the 2004 Tsunami... Cept for the predictable music, this clip seems to be the best mashup of events from that day that I could find. Sucks because way back in the day there was a full length documentary about it, seems to be done now.

The other video event was Winston Churchill speaking to congress about WWII Unity.

Well TDS is on vacation so I'll go back updating this blog with the top stories on around the social web. These are archived under the Today in History page on Mahalo.

The big story today in history is that in 2000 the Supreme Court handed George W. Bush the presidency...how did that work out for America? Here is Al Gore conceding.

Here are Today in History results for December 1. Most important event was Rosa Parks defying the law back in 1955 and starting the Civil Rights movement.

November 19: Ron Artest and other members of the Indiana Pacers jump into the crowd in Detroit and begin a brawl with fans and members of the Detroit Pistons.

Everyday I check out the major social websites and find the most popular links, I then document them in the Today in History pages on Mahalo, here are the top links for November 16.

Here are Today's Top Social News Stories Archived under October 18. The Grandma Video attached is Laugh out Loud Funny!

Archived Today in History for October 14.

The Top Social News stories have been posted for October 6.

However I feel the most interesting portion of the October 6 page is the video I was able to embed into the "Historical Events" section, it was concluded exactly four years ago today that a report found there were no WMD's in Iraq. That's why America went to war, and four years later after that fact they are still at war. Incredible.

Bush thinks it's funny.
