When I posted the ~today in history question~, I did not expect to be made aware of the death of Isadora Duncan.

On September 14, 1927, Isadora Duncan Dies in a freak automobile accident in Nice, France.

She was the pioneer of modern dance. A 'revolutionist' and feminist who brought new ideas to movement without a corset or restrictive clothing. She created a new and modern way of dancing by incorporating the ancient styles of Greece in both movement and clothing. She was also known for famously dancing barefoot!

I would have nominated it to the Answer of the Day contest, but I already used up my nomination.

The new Mahalo is the greatest archiving tool, I have just started to get my feed wet. Ever since I started working on the Mahalo Archive I played with documentary presentation. On the old Mahalo it looked good, so good James Burke personally emailed me to tell me how "Masterly" his documentary series "The Day the Universe Changed" looked. Well, Mahalo 2.0 recently launched and I finally had a chance to update the documentary, and I must say it looks great. I hope more chopped up documentaries pop up on Mahalo some day.

BBC in Gaza

There is lots to be said about the ongoing/latest conflict between these two civilized *ahem* nations, honestly there is nothing the rest of the world enjoys covering then your classic religious war, it's very easy to pick sides no matter who the aggressor is, just look to the sky and listen to your god.

Anyway, in this case a 6 months cease recently ended and Hamas started attacking Israeli neighborhoods, so Israel retaliated by carpet bombing the Gaza strip.

Anyhooo... It all sounds like it's going to be a long conflict, Peace talks between Syria and Israel crumbled today and now the Iranian Ayatollah calling for Muslims to defend against Israel. These conflicts always make me a little nervous because you never know when the powder keg will explode.

Enough about the current, Archived today was this Channel 4 Documentary about the Hamas, which I added to the Archive today.

This is a great example of why Mahalo Answers is a great place for the budding Internet Researcher to hone their skills.

A fellow asked via the Mahalo Olympics Ceremonies opening page, where they could actually watch the opening.

I was surprised it wasn't already on the page, so I went to my local Video Search engine and cycled through the millions of results until I found the Olympic Opening ceremonies in its entirety. I actually never seen it before... I'm watching it now :)



So there you have it, a pretty interesting tale in the wonderful world of Internet Research and how it can help people get what they are looking for.

He's still at large, as I updated the Osama Bin Laden page I found this AFP report from September that I think is a pretty decent video to have featured at the top of our Archive.



Honestly, I think he's dead, in fact before Benazir Bhutto was murdered she told Sir David Frost that he was dead, which is interesting, but still I guess we all want to see the body. What do you think, Bush will find him before January 20th? or Obama will find him after he takes office? He's gotta be out there, in this day and age this shouldn't be that difficult.

Watch Bhutto mention this at 2:29 into this interesting clip, I wonder why Frost didn't follow up on that statement, did he assume she mispoke? she did lean into the answer, hmmm, either way, unfortunately we'll never have another chance to hear her elaborate on this, as we all know, she was assassinated in late 2007.

I sat down today and started working on Today in History at Mahalo.com, from now on I will be spending more time "rabbit holing" the internal links I link to in the Date Pages and making sure those pages are up-to-date and presentable on Mahalo.

For Example, Today I linked to the United Nations Page, which had several dead links and videos. So I ventured out to find a great clip that is worth being archived under that term that will help our users. I ran into this hilarious clip from Ex-Daily Show correspondent Rob Corrdry.

Just added this video the Mahalo Whale archive as the current Top 7 Video. A great little rescue tale from BC.

This video is Archived, it is certainly a turning point in history and will probably be analyzed and argued over by pundits in the year 2108.



This Video doesn't seem to get old... every time I watch it I see something new. Todd pointing out Alaska is funny, the bullet riddled moose is awesome. But watching how Sarah looks increasingly uncomfortable with each passing second is priceless.

I watch... I can see how hard Palin is trying to act, it's sad, but she tries. Her banter with Sudeikis is interesting, the role she chose for herself appears to be to act all cool as if she DID do the rap backstage, this doesn't help her case because by acting all cool and opting out of what was rehearsed makes it appear as if she's a bitch, by putting the 8 month pregnant Amy Poehler on the spot like that. Anyway I feel as if this is the Nail in the Coffin moment, if not, her $150,000 shopping spree will certainly piss off a few poor Joe Plumbers...Oh...she still doesn't know what a VP does either.

Michael Wesch who is a Professor of Cultural Anthropology at Kansas State University, recently spoke at the Library of Congress about YouTube and it's cultural impacts. It's quite fascinating.

Tina Fey may have just ended Sarah Palin's post debate "thunder." Few comedic performance change history, perhaps this SNL Sketch will be one of them?

Pretty interesting NHL Ad campaign, 4 clips, you get Crosby, Lundqvist, Kane and Phaneuf. I've begun a new Mahalo Archive for "NHL Advertisements", there have been so many great ones of the year I am sure a great collection could be built. I generally only like advertisements as long as they are marketing to me, in this case it's hockey. I'm looking forward to the upcoming season, my Montreal Canadians are looking strong, it been a long time since the Habs have been favourites going into a season.

While working on the September 30 Page, I found out James Dean died in a car crash on that day. Well I knew he died in a car crash, it just so happened on September 30 1955.

The best part of about building the "Today in History" pages is being able to look for historical videos from the web, sure these clips won't get a million views but there is a small audience there who do really appreciate the unearthing of these clips.

For example, today I started building the September 27 Mahalo page and learned that on this day in 1964, the Warren Commission report was made public, CBS had their own commercial free special to discuss the report and all the questions surrounding the assassination of JFK. Sure enough, I was able to find the CBS report and now it's forever archived under Mahalo pages related to the topic.
